Recordings from past recitals
Would you like to hear recordings from past recitals?
They are all online. Please visit http://pianolessons.4shared.com or simply click HERE.
Once you are there, you have two choices.
1. You can listen online. There is a little play button to the left of each file name. A media player will pop up. Click on it to start playback.
2. You can also download the files by clicking on the green download button all the way to the right of each file.
If you had a beautiful plant that you grew from a seed and then you suddenly stopped watering it, it would likely die. Likewise, if you have spent many hours learning a difficult piece of music and you no longer practice it, you will likely lose the ability to play it. “Water” your music on a daily basis!
SCALES: Each day, you should choose at least two scales to review. Make sure you do some slow practice hands apart. Don’t allow yourself to play through mistakes.
EXERCISES: Choose two exercises each day to review (Fingerpower, Hanon, Czerny), even if they are older exercises. Try playing them at different dynamic levels (louder/softer).
REPERTOIRE: Review your lesson book materials. Open your book, find a song that you enjoy playing and work through it, correcting any problem areas. Mark the page and work on that same piece of music for several days. If you have been studying more advanced pieces of music, start keeping your best pieces in a binder. Play through this music on a consistent basis.
THEORY: If you are working in a Notespeller, Scalespeller, Chordspeller or Adventures in Chording book, please feel free to work ahead. Also, there are many great web sites that you can work through, including the very useful www.musictheory.net.
LISTENING: Try to find time to listen to recordings of piano music. You can even find some great performances on YouTube. Try typing in the composer Chopin, for example, and you will find a number of great performances. One YouTube user, screen name Sissco, has over 100 videos of great piano performances. www.youtube.com/user/Sissco |
